Generally speaking, the island offers clement weather most of the time. When thinking about the best time to visit Sri Lanka, it’s worth remembering that the basic pattern described below can vary considerably from year to year. But it does give you a good idea of the best time to visit Sri Lanka.
It’s also important to point out that global warming has disrupted these already complex weather patterns.

The monsoon on this side of the island runs from April to September, with particularly intense rainfall between April and June. - Northeast:
The monsoon strikes this region from November to March, with the wettest months being November and December.
An intermediate period called “Maha” precedes the monsoon and hits the island in October and November, with violent thunderstorms that can occur anywhere.

🌿Thegreen season in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is affected by two distinct monsoon seasons and can therefore be divided into two distinct seasons. In the south and west of the island, rainfall is abundant during the months of April to October, while the east coast is very sunny.
On the other hand, the monsoon season hits eastern and northern Sri Lanka between October and January, with an enormous amount of rain falling throughout the region. The monsoon season in this region lasts less time but is generally more intense, often leading to flooding and difficult road conditions.
